Cities lead the way to Web 2.5
What is the next step after Web 2.0? Web 2.5, according to a presentation by Alan Shark, executive director of the Washington-based Public Technology Institute (PTI) during American City & County’s Local Government Summit, held Oct. 20.
While Web 2.0 is used to describe the second generation of the Internet that includes social networking sites like Facebook and communication tools like Twitter and Wikis, the three main elements of Web 2.5 will include compelling content, smarter browser programs and affordable high-speed Internet connections that allow for faster uploads and downloads, Shark says.
