ON THE COVER

Truck body

The DuraClass Sidewinder spreads material during winter months and operates as a standard dump body in warmer weather. Its body sidewall prevents moisture and freeze problems. A front-mounted inverted telescopic hoist with hard chrome-plated sleeves eliminates the need for cylinder housing inside the body and minimizes cylinder contamination. The unit allows operators to spread up to 25-foot widths of sand or salt with continuous feed from the dump body. The construction includes COR-TEN steel, a heavy-duty braced tailgate and continuous welding.

Truck racks

UTR and STR tonneau racks are made with powder-coated stainless steel uprights and aluminum crossbars. The racks increase truck storage by providing an additional level under the tonneau cover. They have a 300-pound capacity and will not rust or corrode. The racks work with new or previously installed “over-the-rail” soft tonneau covers.

Underground fueling system

The FlexWorks Loop System is an underground fueling system designed to provide environmental protection and long-term reliability. Features include factory-installed pipe entry boots, stabilizer bars and shear valves. There is no need for height adjustment on the dispenser sumps and no need to use and connect T and L pipe fittings, which eliminates joints. Easy access to all dispenser components and connections is provided just below the grade for inspection, repair and testing.

Side mirror

Fleet maintenance and safety managers concerned about blindside safety issues may look to the Eyeball mirror and bracket as an answer. The mirror provides drivers with maximum visibility while making right-hand turns and lane changes. The unit has a single-arm conventional hood mount design but also has been successfully used for rear-mount applications, providing enhanced visibility across the back of step vans and delivery vehicles.

Front suspension system

Peterbilt’s Front Air Leaf Suspension is available for truck Models 384, 386, 388 and 389. The new-generation suspension system has a lower spring rate for better isolation of road inputs, and maintains the roll stiffness and handling performance of a taper leaf suspension, according to Peterbilt. The design uses four air springs to support up to 75 percent of the spring load. Additional features include: lightweight components; a ride height compatible with the popular Low Air Leaf and FLEXAir rear suspensions; suspension weight capacity ratings from 12,000 to 13,200 pounds; and compatibility with air disc or drum brakes.

Injector cleaner

Rislone high-performance injector cleaner with fuel conditioner and treatment helps fleets clean and lubricate fuel injectors. The formula provides a cleaner and quieter ride by helping to eliminate noisy injectors and fuel pumps, rough idle, hard-starting and hesitation. One of the key ingredients is Upper Cylinder Lubricant (UCL), which helps prevent wear to cylinders, rings and pistons, while lubricating valves and guides. Rislone injector cleaner works with all types of fuel, including regular and unleaded gasoline, ULSD diesel, E85 ethanol and other oxygenated, reformulated and bio formulas. It is available in two sizes: a 6-ounce bottle (p/n 4701) concentrated to treat up to 25 gallons of fuel, and a 32-ounce bottle (p/n 4732) concentrated to work at 3 ounces per 10 gallons of fuel.
