Turf tool cools and cleans synthetic sports fields
The Turf Gun Kit is a manual alternative to an automated irrigation system for cleaning and cooling synthetic sports fields. Mission Viejo, Calif.-based Underhill International is the maker of the product.
The kit consists of two parts: a portable MTG-180 Turf Gun with specifiable nozzle and a stainless steel below-grade enclosure with internal mounting assembly. The enclosure includes all necessary quick-connect components and a padlock to prevent unauthorized use.
The unit weighs less than 12 pounds. The gun delivers up to 180 feet of coverage and uses the same piston-drive technology found in Underhill’s Mirage M-160 long-throw sprinklers. The product can cool or clean an entire field in minutes.
Typically, the ratio of Turf Gun heads is 4:1 to below-grade MSSB-MTG-Kits. This allows fast and efficient coverage of alternating sides of a field.
The Turf Gun Kit is Underhill’s newest irrigation product in the Total Solutions line for sports fields. It is available in full- and part-circle models and installs outside of the area of play for safety. It has a radius range from 105 feet to 180 feet. Six nozzles can be specified: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 millimeters. Rotation speed is adjustable from 2 to 7 minutes for a full circle. Operating pressure ranges from 58 to 114 PSI.
Underhill offers a line of water management products for sports fields, including Mirage Series sprinklers (M-115, M-125, M-160 and M-180S); MSSB Enclosures; and Quick Coupler Kits. The company has been in business for 35 years. It provides integrated solutions to the irrigation industry.
