EquipmentWatch has launched a new, free intelligence report — the EquipmentWatch INDEX. The monthly information resource helps fleet professionals track critical heavy equipment benchmarks. Members of the EquipmentWatch community will receive these reports regularly. Provide your email address at this site to receive the EquipmentWatch INDEX in your email inbox every month.

Inside the EquipmentWatch INDEX Report you’ll find:
•    Critical benchmarks for pricing, volume and equipment age trending
•    State-specific metrics
•    Manufacturer and category-specific age benchmarks for both the auction (public) and resale (private) marketplace environments

The EquipmentWatch INDEX is a monthly resource for critical thinkers in the construction equipment industry to make better-informed heavy equipment decisions around price, market share and equipment age metrics.

The INDEX report discusses Marketplace Activity, during the past 30 days, including public auction activity and private equipment resales covering tens of thousands equipment units. The INDEX report includes a price index and a volume index.

Two of the benchmarks in the INDEX report are age indices. One index is by equipment category. Some of the categories include:

4-Wd Articulated Wheel Loaders
Crawler Mounted Compact Excavators
Skid Steer Loaders
Standard Crawler Dozers
Wheel Tractors

Another age index breaks out average age by manufacturer. Some of the manufacturers presented in the INDEX report include Komatsu, Bobcat, Case, Caterpillar, Deere, Volvo and New Holland.

“The EquipmentWatch Index serves to inform the market of monthly price and volume trending for the entire heavy equipment market. It also gives a glimpse into the age of different major equipment categories in the auction and resale markets,” says Patrick Dogan, who is analytics manager for EquipmentWatch.

Dogan adds, “This index helps inform fleet managers who are interested in buying or selling equipment — if one is buying, s/he can easily tell if volume or prices are going up/down; if selling, s/he can quickly gauge the age of his/her equipment and price accordingly.”

More detailed analysis is available through EquipmentWatch. With market-sourced equipment data going back more than 15 years, this data source can provide an in-depth analysis for nearly any critical business need. Go here for details.

EquipmentWatch produces database information products for the construction equipment industry and provides heavy construction research. The data provider serves more than 15,000 professional, high-volume users of construction and lift truck data.

Its online and print products are tools used to make decisions surrounding the purchase, valuation, operation and disposal of equipment. EquipmentWatch has almost 50 years of experience serving contractors, equipment manufacturers, dealers, lenders and insurers, and government agencies involved in large infrastructure construction.

Compliance clock is ticking: Community water systems have one year to complete a Service Line Inventory
In about 12 months, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will expect all public water systems to have completed a Service Line Inventory, which is a complete accounting of the material of every service connection in the public network that delivers drinking water. The main purpose of the regulation (Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, or LCRR) […]
  • Adding resilience to roads without reconstruction
In Vermont this summer, torrential rains caused flooding of historic proportions, washing out roads or covering them in feet of mud. And in some coastal areas, sea level rise is making ‘sunny-day’ flooding a twice-monthly occurrence when the moon’s cycles pull tides higher. Often, the hardest hit areas during such extreme weather events are communities’ […]

Public buyers have several options to keep problem materials out of the waste stream
Cities and counties are taking multiple steps towards sustainability, says Curran Hughes, co-founder and president of Renegade Plastics, a fabric product manufacturer that offers an alternative to PVC (polyvinyl chloride)-coated fabrics. Its low carbon coated fabrics curtail plastic waste and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to the company. “Local governments are doing a nice job […]
