When budgets are tight: Tips on buying a fire truck

Jim Bodony knows a thing or two about fire trucks, as both a fire chief and from years of selling fire trucks. His is a unique perspective.
Bodony is the current chief of the Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Volunteer Fire Company. Earlier, Bodony spent 37 years with the Oak Brook (Ill.) Fire Department and 35 years with E-ONE, a worldwide designer, manufacturer and marketer of fire rescue vehicles.
Here are some comments from Bodony. His views will be part of FIRE CHIEF's upcoming Focus on Apparatus supplement. Bodony currently is on a sabbatical from selling fire trucks, but he was willing to share several points about buying a fire truck to fit your department’s budget.
