Los Angeles invests in financial-management software
An upgrade to new financial-management software will give Los Angeles officials a real-time view of the city’s committed and available funds, among other benefits of the new system.
With help from the McLean, Va.-based IT consulting firm Metaformers, the city recently upgraded to PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management 9.0, which will put Los Angeles “on track for a positive return on investment and significant costs savings,” according to Metaformers President Ed Bouryng.
“In an economic environment where every dollar counts, the city’s leadership continues to show a commitment to increased operational efficiencies and the prudent use of resources,” Bouryng said.
The city of Los Angeles Department of General Services uses PeopleSoft Enterprise Supply Chain Management and Financial Management software for its supply-management system, which handles procure-to-pay functions for all departments controlled by the City Council. The system has more than 3,000 users and manages more than 10,000 suppliers. The city of Los Angeles has an annual budget of more than $7 billion.
“In this tough economic environment, Metaformers is helping us to operate more efficiently and effectively,” said Randi Levin, chief technology officer of the city of Los Angeles. “More than a consultant, Metaformers has been our strategic partner, helping us turn our PeopleSoft 9.0 upgrade into an investment that will benefit the city’s employees and residents for years to come.”
The city of Los Angeles first engaged Metaformers in 2006 to address critical issues arising from the PeopleSoft Enterprise 8.8 upgrade. In February 2008, the city selected Metaformers to upgrade the city’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management software to version 9.0.
“Metaformers’ executives put real skin in the game,” said Beverley Dembo, assistant general manager for the city of Los Angeles Information Technology Agency. “They stood by us throughout our data cleanup and upgrade, and made our long-term success their top priority.”
