IT monitoring tool earns national contract
Kaseya has been awarded the 2009 PEPPM technology contract for IT automation solutions.
The national PEPPM bid and purchasing program ensures governments and educational institutions have protected rates for purchasing technology tools. Through PEPPM’s bidding process, any California or Pennsylvania government agency, school, college or university can buy Kaseya’s IT automation tools.
San Francisco-based Kaseya offers the IT Automation Framework that allows IT professionals to proactively monitor and manage distributed infrastructures remotely, with one integrated Web-based management console. Important tasks, such as systems monitoring, patch and remote management, asset inventory and endpoint security, are administrated quickly and efficiently with the framework, according to Kaseya.
With IT administrators pressed to continually cut costs and operate efficiently in today’s economy, the Kaseya framework tool enables professionals to reduce time spent on daily IT tasks, freeing up time to focus on other key tasks and projects, according to the company.
“Kaseya has saved us a minimum of 100 man-hours per week since we implemented the system in 2007 in our ability to remotely support desktops in any of our seven city buildings,” said Scott Nicewarner, IT manager for the city of Hagerstown, Md. “It has also allowed us to better service our distributed user community through utilizing the Help Desk module of Kaseya. We use the Ticketing module integrated with the Audit and Monitor modules of Kaseya to proactively support our server/desktop environment and to identify in advance areas where we may be facing technical issues throughout the city.”
Like other city governments, Hagerstown is facing fiscal challenges, and Kaseya’s offering has been a big help, Nicewarner told GovPro.com.
“When operating under a tight budget with limited staff – 300-plus PCs, 10 servers, and two technical support staff – the Kaseya system has dramatically increased our support quality and response,” Nicewarmer said.
PEPPM is a national technology bidding and purchasing program that enables 1,000 specified public-sector government agencies and educational institutions to purchase technology products and software off of centralized, bid-protected contracts from 200 vendors representing 270 product lines.
