Policy Survey Reports Trends in Federal Procurement
Professional Services Council (PSC) and Grant Thornton have released the third biannual PSC Procurement Policy Survey titled “Troubling Trends in Federal Procurement.”
“The report’s title aptly reflects the survey results, which document a federal acquisition workforce that is increasingly under fire and under resourced, and faces challenges of substantial proportions,” said PSC President Stan Soloway.
In spring and early summer 2006, representatives from Professional Services Council member firms conducted in-person interviews with federal acquisition leaders and practitioners to gauge their views on procurement policy and practices, and the general environment. The interviewees included senior procurement executives, front-line contracting professionals, and congressional staff. PSC member company Grant Thornton compiled the results of the surveys and worked with PSC to report and analyze them.
“This report offers important insights and perspectives on a range of issues” said Grant Thornton Partner, and project lead, Diane Shute. “Despite the many problems cited in this report, the federal acquisition workforce continues to get the job done and to do it remarkably well. Their views deserve to be taken seriously.”
