LockBox, a portable, external hard drive, is ideal for law-enforcement agencies or anyone who transports confidential files to and from offices. Connects to Windows-based PCs through computers USB port. Comes in 3 models, with storage capacities of 80, 120, or 200 Gb. Each includes biometric fingerprint reader that restricts access to computer files. Uses low-power, radio-frequency electric fields to read fingerprints below skins surface. Allows enrollment by up to 8 users. Serves as single hard drive or can be configured to protect up to 7 individual drives. Ensures that authorized users can gain computer access even if their hands are dry, oily, or calloused. To confirm authorized access, green light surrounds sensor on drives top outer panel, and PC emits audiovisual feedback. If access is denied, sensor illuminates red light. To override denied access, network administrator can enter password or contact Internet-based emergency unlock service. Overall size is smaller than a VCR tape; weighs less than 2 lbs. Price: $199 to $299, depending on model.
