Faced with a defendant who was repeatedly interrupting court proceedings, Canton, Ohio, Municipal Court Judge Stephen Belden improvised a solution. He ordered a deputy to put duct tape over the mouth of 51-year-old robbery suspect Harry Brown, according to the AP.
During a preliminary hearing in his case, Brown had been complaining that his court-appointed attorney was ill prepared, and he continued his outbursts despite a warning from Belden to be silent. When the tape was removed, Brown told Belden he was not being respectful, and then sent the case to the grand jury.
