E-mail hosting solutions receive GSA contract
At the recent FOSE Exposition (held April 1-3 in Washington, D.C.), Ciracom Inc. announced that it was awarded a 5-year Information Technology Schedule 70 contract by the U.S. General Services Administration.
Under GSA Contract No. GS-35-F-0221U, Ciracom will provide Microsoft Exchange hosting services supplied by USA.NET. To obtain the integrated services, federal, state and local government agencies can purchase and deploy IT solutions offered under the contract.
Ciracom’s first government client for e-mail hosting services is the Acquisition Services Directorate (formerly GovWorks), a line of business within the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Business Center.
“We are pleased that the GSA has awarded us this hosted business e-mail government contract,” said Amy Rutt, president and CEO of Ciracom. “E-mail hosting services are on the GSA schedule because we are starting to see a movement towards software-as-a-service (SaaS) even in the government.”
Based in Reston, Va., Ciracom is an IT consulting firm and woman-owned, 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business. The company’s government segment provides a wide array of solutions in the areas of IT, telecommunications and professional services.
Logging on to e-mail hosting
Denver-based USA.NET offers an integrated suite of secure e-mail hosting services, including Microsoft Exchange Hosting and Commercial Messaging Solution (CMS) platforms and solutions for anti-virus/anti-spam protection, content filtering, encrypted e-mail, e-mail archiving, unified messaging and mobile messaging.
“In the current climate of budget constraints, our SaaS offerings give predictable pricing and service levels over time without any upfront capital expenditures,” said Doug Howard, president of USA.NET. “The solution scales as an agency grows, and the speed at which an agency can launch our service and start to see the benefits is much quicker than with traditional in-house implementations.
“As a part of our partnership with Ciracom,” Howard added, “USA.NET continues to undergo rigorous network and host-based security audits in order to maintain the authority to operate its Exchange Hosting services for a government agency under the FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) compliance process.”
