Washington has expanded its domestic partnership registry, established in 2007, giving homosexual couples most of the protections of heterosexual married couples, including statutes for division of property by former partners. “[The law] is particularly important to lesbian and gay families during times of crisis,” says Connie Watts, executive director of Equal Rights Washington.
