Smart kit lets engines use alternative fuels
Flex-Box Smart Kit aftermarket, bolt-on fuel conversion system mounts in the vehicle’s engine compartment where its onboard computer continuously monitors engine and emission controls—oxygen and throttle-position sensors, engine speed and alcohol/fuel sensor—and delivers supplementary fuel injection for optimum performance, no matter what fuel blend is in the tank. Boasts 15% per gal. fuel cost saving over pure gasoline by using E85, E20 or E10 ethanol/gasoline blends. Also said to reduce fossil greenhouse gas emissions by 85% while boosting engine horsepower, torque and acceleration. EPA testing shows that vehicles equipped with smart kit achieve 16.9 mpg in the city and 26.8 mpg on the highway. EPA-certified for common fleet and motor pool vehicles such as the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car. Flex Fuel U.S., Chicago Ill.
