Aerosol Formula Tests Furnace Heat Exchangers for Carbon Monoxide
Originally invented for U.S. Air Force fighter jets, Qwik-Detector-HE can save lives by detecting leaks of carbon monoxide from furnaces. Ideal for testing furnace heat exchangers in workplaces or residential facilities. Comes in a 3-oz. aerosol can, with a 4-in.-long nozzle extension. Works with any brand of high-efficiency, gas-fired condensing furnace. Reveals heat exchanger leaks due to corrosion, expansion and contraction cracks, or manufacturing defects in furnace. To use, apply a 5-sec. spray of formula into a drilled 18-in. furnace plenum hole. The spray then penetrates heat-exchanger fissures as small as 241,000 in. In turn, a conventional electronic refrigerant sniffer, used at furnace exhaust point, can detect the formula’s sensitive ether-based chemical blend to determine leaks emanating from heat exchanger. Testing process takes about 5 mins. of preparation and execution time. Each can provides 6 applications. Mainstream Engineering Corp., Rockledge, FL
