Responsible Purchasing Network Launches Web Site
The Responsible Purchasing Network (RPN), at the Center for a New American Dream, has launched ResponsiblePurchasing.org in response to a growing demand for information on purchasing goods and services with leading-edge social and environmental characteristics, while optimizing cost and quality, and ensuring availability.
The Web site features RPN’s series of Responsible Purchasing Guides for cleaners, computers, fleet vehicles, office supplies, and paint. Each Guide covers social and environmental issues, best practices, model policies and specifications, standards information, and product listings.
The site covers important events, trends, and news stories affecting purchasers; and includes a variety of networking opportunities, discussion boards, and job listings—connecting purchasing professionals with experts and peers.
“RPN is dedicated to improving human health and the environment through best practices, superior products, improved supply, purchasing tools, market education, and peer networking,” says the RPN
Director Chris O’Brien. “With growing public awareness of the issues, institutional purchasers are uniquely positioned to take the lead in solving urgent human health and environmental problems.”
