The Tallahassee Police Department in Florida is issuing cell phones to officers as a means of enhancing communications with both dispatchers and the community.
The Tallahassee Police Department in Florida is issuing cell phones to officers as a means of enhancing communications with both dispatchers and the community.
The cell phones can be used in areas not accessible by radio, and the phone numbers can also be given to victims to bypass 911 if a suspect returns or to call with additional information. They are also helpful if stranded motorists need to call for help.
The $24-per-month cell phones have already been given to 190 officers.
