Many New Yorkers may agree that artificial trans fats are bad for them, but they don’t want the city ordering them not to eat it. The city’s Board of Health wants to put strict limits on the use of trans fats in New York’s 20,000 restaurants, but even restaurant owners who already have eliminated the unhealthy substance say the board should suggest the move but not mandate it, according to The New York Times. A lawyer for the New York State Restaurant Association says he would expect somebody to sue the city if the law is passed, probably a fast-food restaurant that uses trans fats to make foods in other states for use in New York restaurants.
