The Jacksonville, Fla., Sheriff’s Office will get a large chunk of the city’s $902.4 million budget. The money will go to hiring more officers and to pay overtime for officers who patrol high-crime areas, according to The Florida Times-Union. However, the city council wants the sheriff to hire 40 community officers from its own budget.
