Officials in Andalusia, Ala., want the state’s attorney general to let them know if they have to fight every fire in the town’s jurisdiction. An officer with the ISO recently told the fire department that, if they don’t cover every fire, the ISO ratings for areas that are not covered would go from a 5 to a 10, increasing homeowners insurance rates, according to the Andalusia Star. Fire Chief Ethan Dorsey says they have contracts with other departments to cover parts of the city’s jurisdiction and that covering the whole jurisdiction would limit the availability of coverage in the town limits.
