The first death of a cyclist on New York’s Hudson River bike path has called attention to the dangers of intersections between the path and city streets. The path is one of the nation’s busiest, and drivers must cross it at more than a dozen intersections to get to the riverfront, according to The New York Times. Cyclists on the path tend to ignore stoplights at those intersections, and vehicles exiting from the West Side Highway to roads crossing the path are often speeding.
