HID Corporation
HID is the premier manufacturer of contactless access control cards and readers for the security industry and has shipped over 250 million credentials to customers worldwide. HID pioneered the development of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for physical access control.
HID’s award-winning product line includes iCLASS® 13.56 MHz contactless smart cards and readers including new product introductions for biometric and long range uses, 125 kHz proximity, magnetic stripe, and Wiegand technology cards and readers as well as the recently introduced VertX™ CS central station managed access controllers.
The company also provides specialized card manufacturing services including custom pre-printed graphics, micro printing and anti-counterfeiting elements, holograms or ultraviolet ink for increased card security.
iCLASS and proximity technologies can be housed on the same credential and combined with other technologies such as magnetic stripe, barcode, or contact smart chip modules. This provides users the ability to seamlessly upgrade to new technologies and add new applications. For increased security, users can incorporate a photo ID or anti-counterfeiting element such as a hologram or ultraviolet ink. The company’s card and reader technologies are utilized in diverse applications including access control, network log-on security, automotive vehicle identification, cashless vending, time and attendance, and biometric verification.
iCLASS Meets Government Standards
HID’s FIPS 201 Government Smart Card products are designed for United States government agencies and contractors adopting contactless smart card technology.
HID’s versatile FIPS 201 readers meet the latest U.S. Government Smart Card Interoperability Specifications (GSC-IS), including the ability to read FIPS 201 cards in either low or medium assurance profiles as defined in the Technical Implementation Guidance Specification as well as HID’s family of iCLASS contactless smart cards.
Fully compliant iCLASS contactless smart card readers are available to output the FASC-N (Federal Agency Smart Credential Number) in multiple configurations, providing the versatility to support both existing and new access control systems. Standard communication protocols make it easy to replace existing access control card readers with HID GSC compliant card readers.
