Nevada report says climate change doesn’t merit change in water policy

Climate change from global warming may soon have an effect on the water supply for the Reno, Nev., area, but there is not yet enough specific information to merit major changes in water management policy. That was the conclusion of a report commissioned by the Truckee Meadows Water Authority that serves 81,000 customers in the Reno-Sparks area, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal. The report by the Reno-based Desert Research Institute found that global warming may eventually cause more rain to fall than snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains, altering peak runoff times, but changes aren’t necessary until there is evidence of that occurring.
