Park and ride
Pleasant Prairie, Wis., had a vision to create not only a regional park and ride lot, but also provide overflow parking for the RecPlex, which is the largest municipally-owned recreation facility in the United States. The design included 387 parking spaces, pedestrian path with a bridge over the creek, access driveway with a bridge, storm sewer and a wet detention pond. At the ground-breaking ceremony were, left to right, Benjie Hayek, R.A. Smith National; Paul Schafer, R.A. Smith National; Gary Raasch, R.A. Smith National; Gary Sipsma, Kenosha County, Wis.; and Robert Schmidt, Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
