Equipment data vendor offers new tool to value assets

EquipmentWatch, a provider of data, software and insights for the heavy equipment industry, has unveiled the EquipmentWatch application program interface.

EquipmentWatch, a provider of data, software and insights for the heavy equipment industry, has unveiled the EquipmentWatch application program interface (API). The EquipmentWatch API enables integration of critical equipment data attributes – including cost, rental, specs and value benchmarks – directly into any software or application. The new tool offers the potential to streamline existing workflows and build new solutions for the heavy equipment industry.

With the tool, government contractors can directly embed cost data into internal systems to speed the cost recovery process or allow for more accurate internal charge rates to be created. Some examples of internal systems include JD Edwards, SAP, HCSS and Sage/Timberline.

Bringing data into the user’s workflow

Thousands of construction, finance, dealer and insurance customers currently use the EquipmentWatch web application to make critical business decisions regarding the acquisition, management and disposition of heavy equipment. By offering the new API – the exact technology that powers the EquipmentWatch web application – industry professionals now have the opportunity to fully integrate EquipmentWatch data into the systems they use everyday. “We’ve had discussions with forward-thinking companies and organizations that want to leverage our endpoints in their customer relationship management systems (CRM), accounting applications, underwriting software and more,” explains Garrett Schemmel, vice president of EquipmentWatch. “The efficiency that can be gained through streamlined workflows and perpetually up-to-date data will create an enormous competitive advantage for these businesses.”

Potential for innovation

The EquipmentWatch API includes the traditional data benchmarks that the brand is known for, such as ownership and operating costs, retail rental rates, specifications, serial number verification and equipment values (FMV, OLV, FLV). Additionally, new data attributes have been made available for the first time including asset utilization, market popularity, value trending and raw market transactions. “Along with our traditional benchmarks, we’re excited to see how entrepreneurs will leverage these new data attributes to build solutions for the heavy equipment industry,” Schemmel adds. “Whether enriching existing software or developing new apps, the potential for innovation using the API is endless.”

To learn more about the EquipmentWatch API or to request access, visit this site.

EquipmentWatch produces the latest database information products for the construction, lift/access, agriculture and commercial truck industries. It is a global  leader in heavy construction research.

It serves more than 15,000 professional, high-volume users of construction, lift-truck, agriculture and commercial truck data. EquipmentWatch online and print products are valuable tools in decisions surrounding the purchase, valuation, operation, and disposal of equipment.

For nearly 50 years, EquipmentWatch has served contractors, equipment manufacturers, dealers, rental companies, lenders and insurers, and government agencies involved in heavy civil construction.
