Garden State inks deal for security equipment and services

New Jersey has joined a four-year cooperative procurement agreement with the National Joint Powers Alliance, that will allow state and municipal agencies, school districts and public colleges and universities to directly purchase security services and equipment from ADT Security Services.

New Jersey has joined a four-year cooperative procurement agreement with the Staples, Minn.-based National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), that will allow state and municipal agencies, school districts and public colleges and universities to directly purchase security services and equipment from Boca Raton, Fla.-based ADT Security Services.

The NJPA agreement satisfies competitive bid requirements for security purchases for public agencies in New Jersey. ADT services the NJPA’s security agreement.

The contract covers services and equipment such as surveillance cameras, access control systems, intrusion detection and fire alarm systems, burglar alarms, wireless transmission networks, central station monitoring and system maintenance and equipment repair.

New Jersey’s membership with the NJPA will determine the costs of equipment and services. The NJPA is a non-profit government agency that establishes and provides nationally leveraged and competitively solicited cooperative contracts for municipal government, educational and non-profit agencies across a variety of product and service areas in the 50 states and Canada.

Mike Hajek, NJPA’s director of business development and marketing, said ADT is the NJPA’s only provider of security systems and services. “Our members can have confidence that our bid processes are open to all responsible parties and that no one is excluded from participating,” he said. “ADT will offer New Jersey public agencies added value from its decades of extensive security experience integrating the latest technologies.”

Daniel Schroeder, ADT’s vice president of commercial sales, said the state and its agencies receive the liability protection benefits of ADT’s SAFETY Act certification and designation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The NJPA is a municipal contracting government agency established through statute in 1977. NJPA serves 31,000 member agencies in the U.S. with competitively bid and awarded purchasing agreements from vendors. ADT serves state and local government agencies in the 50 states, 15,000 K-12 grade schools and 1,350 college and university campuses.
