Water, water everywhere
Columbia, Mo., has contracted with Overland Park, Kan.-based Black & Veatch to upgrade the city’s Regional Wastewater Treatment plant. The plant serves more than 100,000 area residents, and the upgrades are needed to meet an expected increase in demand. The $62 million project is partly funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and is scheduled to be completed by summer 2012.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources has contracted with Voorhees, N.J.-based American Water’s local subsidiary to install an advanced metering infrastructure system as part of a pilot program in Fayette County, W.Va.
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department has contracted with locally based Poole and Kent Co. of Florida to build the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant in Miami.
Howard County, Md., has purchased treatment equipment for its Little Patuxent Water Reclamation Plant from White Plains, N.Y.-based ITT Corp.
