Media degausser
The model EMP001 is a new electromagnetic-pulse degausser that permanently erases data from computer hard drives, data tapes and other magnetic media. The degausser is on the U.S. National Security Agency’s Evaluated Products List, complies with Department of Defense requirements for destroying classified information on magnetic media and exceeds the requirements of many national and international legislative mandates for the destruction of confidential or sensitive data. With effective field strength of up to 40,000 gauss, the degausser erases data from longitudinal magnetic recorded and perpendicular magnetic recorded hard disk drives with up to three terabytes of storage and nominal coercivity ratings of up to 5,000 Oersteds. It erases data tapes with nominal coercivity ratings of up to 2,800 Oersteds. The unit measures 28 by 10 by 19.5 inches, and requires 8 amps at 120 volts or 4 amps at 240 volts.
