John Deere Quick Adjust cutting units win international recognition at IOG Scotsturf
Cary, N.C.-based John Deere’s Quick Adjust cutting units were recently recognized with a new product award at IOG Scotsturf, held in Edinburgh, Scotland. The company’s QA5 and QA7 units won the award for new and innovative products in the small/medium machinery category at November’s trade exhibition.
The QA cutting units allow height of cut adjustments to be made to both sides of the unit simultaneously, using an electric drive wrench or socket. “There has already been a great deal of interest in these new cutting units, which are featured on our newest greens, tees, surrounds and fairway mowers,” said Mike Koppen, group product manager at John Deere Golf.
The 5-inch-diameter QA5 cutting unit is available in 18- or 22-inch cutting widths, while the 7-inch-diameter QA7 unit is available in widths of 22, 26 or 30 inches. Both units can be specified with optional greens or fairway tender conditioners, and are available on many John Deere golf course mowers.
IOG is a British professional organization for grounds management. In January, the Quick Adjust cutting units were featured on the company’s stand at Harrogate Week 2010, a turf management and grounds care industry conference and expo sponsored by The British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association. The units also will be shown at the 2010 Golf Industry Show in San Diego, Calif., in February.
