Nominations now being accepted for 2010 Awards for Municipal Excellence
Cities are invited to submit nominations for the 2010 Awards for Municipal Excellence. Begun in 1989, the awards recognize various municipal programs across the country that improve the quality of life for residents. The Washington-based National League of Cities (NLC) presents the awards.
Starting in February, cities of all sizes may submit nominations for programs that form successful and productive partnerships or collaborations, effectively manage resources, create innovative government policies, or implement projects with positive tangible results. Two winners will be selected in each of four population categories. The deadline for all submissions is May 5.
The eight winning programs will receive awards of either $1,000 or $2,000, and will be publicly recognized at a ceremony at NLC’s Congress of Cities Conference and Exposition in Denver from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. Denver-based CH2M HILL sponsors the awards.
