Propane council releases online fleet cost calculator
The Washington-based Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has released an online calculator to help fleet managers determine the benefits of switching from regular-fueled vehicles to propane. The calculator, available at www.propanecouncil.org/fleetcalculator/, features updated information and is easier to use than previous versions.
Fleet managers can use the calculator to analyze cost savings and how they are affected by fuel prices, vehicle gas mileage, initial vehicle price, local and state rebates, and federal tax credits. “It will be especially useful for operators of buses, taxicabs, local delivery trucks and other on-road fleets,” said PERC Vice President Brian Feehan in a statement.
The calculator also allows users to estimate costs over a 10-year period, factoring in revenue from the sale of fleet vehicles. PERC will display several propane-powered vehicles and other on- and off-road propane fleet products at its Propane Engine Fuel Summit in Detroit on Nov. 12-14.
