October is Cyber Security Awareness Month
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, and the Lexington, Ky.-based National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) is urging state governments to educate residents on how to protect their personal information from online predators.
Organized by the Washington-based National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), Cyber Security Month features educational programs, events and initiatives that target residents and small businesses. “NASCIO is pleased that so many state governments continue to designate October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month and conduct cyber security awareness-raising efforts throughout the month,” NASCIO President Gopal Khanna said in a statement. “Development and protection of the IT infrastructure of the 21st century is a key objective of NASCIO’s strategic agenda, and these activities are directly supportive of our efforts.”
