White paper explains basics of heat-recovery units
“Heat Recovery from Vapor Compression Air Conditioning: A Brief Introduction” is a white paper aiming to provide information on the basics of heat-recovery systems such as Enviro-Pak and Enviro-Temp. Heat-recovery units operate with air conditioning and refrigeration systems to recycle excess heat that otherwise would be lost, improving overall energy efficiency and yielding useful heating. The economic benefit depends on the cost of recovering waste heat versus the cost of generating hot water using conventional means such as natural gas, propane gas, fuel oil or electricity. Generally, the only operating cost of the unit is the cost of providing electricity to power the circulating pump – which is less than the average household light bulb, according to manufacturer.
