Researchers have developed a method for evaluating how land use and stormwater management strategies will affect urban streams. The eight-step process is described in a new report from the Alexandria, Va.-based Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF), “Protocols for Studying Wet Weather Impacts and Urbanization Patterns.” The full process calls for extensive data collection and mathematical modeling, but the report also includes a shorter, simpler process as an alternative. The report is free to WERF subscribers and is available for purchase at www.werf.org.
