The Baltimore-based Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) is calling for nominations for its Green Star Awards. The awards recognize outstanding municipal grounds management programs.
Applicants can enter one or more of 15 categories, including public works sites, government buildings, parks and playgrounds or recreation areas. Milwaukee won the public works category last year for its boulevards landscape program.
Aug. 1 is the deadline to enter the contest, and the winners will be recognized at PGMS’ awards banquet in Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 25. The cost is $150 for PGMS members, $225 for non-members or $275 to enter the contest and join PGMS. Registration information is available at
