U.S. Army awards $56 million contract to upgrade battlefield communications network
DataPath’s contract includes a base year and three additional years of work that could total up to $270 million in awards for the company.
DataPath already has built and delivered more than 800 STTs and provided Unit Hub SATCOM Trucks, software and extensive services for the JNN/WIN-T program since 2004.
STTs are rugged, mobile trailer-based versions of satellite earth terminals that enable high-bandwidth connectivity as far down as the battalion level at forward-operating military bases. STTs are marketed by the company as the DataPath ET 3000 Portable. Unit Hub SATCOM Trucks are versions of satellite earth terminals marketed by the company as the DataPath DKET 4530Ku Mobile.
Work under the delivery order includes resets and repairs to terminals returning from the battlefield, upgrades that include compatibility for Ka band and the addition of MaxView network control software for managing the terminals. The work will be performed both in DataPath facilities and through DataPath field engineering teams at various Army unit locations.
Program Manager WIN-T’s Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J., awarded the delivery order through the Worldwide Satellite Systems contract.
