Last month, the Fort Myers, Fla., Fire Department was joined by several other departments for live fire training in an old hotel. Ileana Foell, public information officer for the department, took this photo of a firefighter extinguishing a blaze under realistic training conditions. Live fire sessions such as these are used to help train firefighters who have not yet responded to a structure fire.

Snapshot showcases the best of architecture, landscapes, people and history of American cities and counties. Entries must be 5 × 7 inches, 300 dpi and sent via e-mail to [email protected]. Weekly winners appear on the American City & County Web site and are posted on Fridays. Each month, one winner appears in the magazine.
