The Martin County (FL) IT department’s mission is to lead in information management solutions that enable the County’s government to work smarter and serve its residents better. The department strives to provide an integrated computing architecture, which provides efficient and productive information tools for the County to conduct its business.

With the deployment of ITM Business Suite, by ITM Software, the County provides more visibility into IT projects, while saving valuable time and money. The County implemented three modules from ITM’s Business Suite: ITM Project Portfolio Management, ITM Human Capital Management and ITM Vendor Relationship Management. With ITM, the County has exposure to all of their IT programs for the first time and has a consolidated view of the organization.

“Without a methodical approach to IT management, the demands placed on the IT department could never be fully understood by County management,” said Denise Eldredge, Director of Services, Martin County. “With ITM, we’re in a better position to demonstrate our business decisions and therefore eventual successes. ITM has helped accelerate the IT business management maturity of the organization and helps us to be more specific about how IT programs map to better service delivery to the Martin County tax payers.”

Until recently, the department’s IT process remained manual, with no standard approach to process management. County management was concerned that having spreadsheets with information in different places would negatively impact the IT department’s ability to manage projects and drive technology success. Additionally, before ITM, the County had no way to measure or manage IT programs. With increasing pressure to demonstrate IT value to the organization, the County needed a system in place that would allow the department to make good business decisions about which IT initiatives to pursue.
