Ohio Cities Top List of America’s 50 Hottest Cities
Two Ohio cities rank among the nation’s 50 hottest cities, according to a new poll recognizing the importance of perception to companies that are expanding or relocating. Released by Expansion Management Magazine, one of the nation’s leading location assistance publications, the poll found Cincinnati-Middletown and Columbus among the nation’s 50 hottest cities.
Since 1999, Expansion Management has presented America’s 50 Hottest Cities showcasing the hottest upper-tier cities for expansion and relocation opportunities. The poll is based strictly on perceptions. Factors such as how a particular city feels to the executive who ultimately has to make the decision of where to expand or relocate are main considerations. All 50 of the hottest cities are in the top 14 percent of all metros in the United States.
“Ohio’s perception as an attractive state for business expansion is critical to reaching site selection decision makers,” said Ed Burghard, executive director of the Ohio Business Development Coalition , a nonprofit organization that provides marketing strategy and implementation to support Ohio’s economic development efforts. “Ohio is perceived as the state of perfect balance. CEOs are choosing to expand and relocate due to the state’s leading-edge business climate, and also because Ohio offers the opportunity to pursue professional and personal aspirations. These reasons are why Ohio is the state of perfect balance .”
Expansion Management asked 80 prominent site location consultants to list their choices for the nation’s best cities for expanding and relocating companies. The consultants considered all 362 Metropolitan Statistical Areas as defined by the Office of Management and Budget. Cities were ranked according to such factors as business environment, work force quality, operating costs, incentive programs, work force training programs, and the ease of working with the local political and economic development community.
