Increasing economic competitiveness through innovation will be the primary theme of the Washington-based National Governors Association (NGA) Winter Meeting. The theme is derived from NGA Chairwoman and Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano’s “Innovation America” initiative.
There will be three “Governor’s Only” sessions during the four-day meeting that begins Feb. 24 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Washington. Other topics scheduled for discussion include globalization’s effect on states’ competitiveness in the world market, public-private partnerships in early childhood education and clean energy investment. The governors also will meet with President Bush at the White House to discuss issues on the legislative agenda in Congress.
