New Orleans’ newly appointed Recovery Chief Edward Blakely, comparing the storm-ravaged city to Dreden and Berlin after World War II, says he is certain he can rebuild it. However, Blakely says that city officials cannot focus only on restoration, but must also plan for the future, according to the Times-Picayune. Blakely also says that, while all of the city’s residents should be allowed to rebuild, they may not be able to do so in the same location, a topic that has been the source of much debate.
