Henderson, Nev., is hoping that coolness will bring them development. Following a tactic that was successful in cities like Denver, San Diego and Oakland, Calif., the city has encouraged artists to set up shop on Water Street in the city’s downtown, according to the Las Vegas SUN. The artists are supposed to generate foot traffic that will lead to more new businesses and residents, and so far Henderson’s 1,400-acre Downtown Redevelopment District has attracted $310 million in new development.
