Field of Glory
Henry Farnham, president of the Barnstable, Mass., Town Council, took this picture at the entrance to the Barnstable Town Green on Veteran's Day. The flags, placed by Veterans for Peace, represent soldiers that have been killed in Iraq (almost 3,000).
Barnstable's Veteran's Day festivities included a half-mile parade that began and ended at the town green and featured various military association participants, boy scouts, cub scouts, campfire girls and boys, brownies, the Minute Men, Barnstable High School and Middle School bands, the police and fire color guards, and state and town officials. After the parade, dignitaries delivered speeches, wreaths were placed on war memorials and the VFW hosted a meal for the public.
