Saying one large gravel truck can cause as much damage as 2,500 cars, officials in Auburn, Wash., are considering levying a truck impact fee against new businesses. One official says Auburn, located between the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, Wash., sees about 3 to 4 percent more truck traffic than other cities in the state, according to the King County Journal. The fees would be used to maintain or rebuild roads that are commonly used by heavy trucks.
