Residents of western Queens, where most of New York’s power plants are located, have spent four days without power. And so far, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and officials from power company Consolidated Edison cannot say why electric service has not yet been restored, according to the New York Times. An equipment failure on Monday, coupled with a storm on Tuesday, damaged the feeder lines for the area, leaving 2,000 people without service during a major heat wave.
