A federal judge has ordered that FEMA must continue paying hurricane evacuees’ hotel bills until Feb. 7, extending the previous Dec. 15 deadline.
A federal judge has ordered that FEMA must continue paying hurricane evacuees’ hotel bills until Feb. 7, extending the previous Dec. 15 deadline. According to The New York Times, the judge based his ruling on a federal law that requires the government to ease suffering and damage caused by natural disasters and also wrote that the previous deadline discriminated against victims based on their economic status.
