The Pennsylvania Senate has passed a bill aimed at limiting the government’s ability to seize private property for economic development and will now head to the House where a similar measure passed last month.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, several other comparable bills are pending, and Gov. Ed Rendell has said he will support a measure that balances homeowner rights with community benefit.
