Fishing in Chaska
This week’s photo is by Michael Lein, Carver County, Minn.’s Environmental Services Director. The photo shows “Courthouse Lake,” a former clay mine, which is stocked annually with trout by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and is open to both water and ice fishing. The Carver County Government Center, in the background, is located near the banks of the Minnesota River. The first section of the courthouse was built in 1965 on the site of a former brick factory. The site includes native prairie plants, and bald eagles roost in the cottonwood trees surrounding the lake. Carver County celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.
