EXTRA, EXTRA/Point and click at the Chicago fire sale
This month, Chicago is holding the first city-organized charitable auction on eBay. The online auction, organized by the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and called “The Great Chicago Fire Sale,” will feature getaway packages, one-of-a-kind experiences, special services and Chicago-related memorabilia. Proceeds from the Dec. 2-16 auction, will benefit exhibitions at the Chicago Cultural Center, arts training programs and cultural grants.
The items for auction include dyeing the Chicago River green for St. Patrick’s Day, guided tours of the city’s oldest and newest fire stations and the Chicago Fire Academy, a cow from the “Cows on Parade” public art exhibition, and a Chicago Cubs signed jersey from left fielder, Moises Alou.
