Pittsburgh Mayor Tom Murphy called the city’s decision to not consider slots gambling proposals in the Lazarus-Macy’s and Lord & Taylor buildings downtown is an “impediment” to redevelopment. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Samuel Jemal, president of J.J. Operating Corp., which had been in negotiations to purchase the Lazarus Macy’s store, said, “We had a different philosophical approach on the future use of the building and did not wish to dispute it with the city.” http://www.pittsburgpost-gazette.com/pg/04300/401795.stm
