Oak Brook, Ill., formerly friendly only to automobile transportation, will be pedestrian-friendly by next fall when two major projects are completed. According to the Chicago Tribune, the York-Harger Pedestrian Bicycle Path, which spans a half mile, will require the relocation of underground utilities, the widening of a bridge and building of another, and working around the Lake Michigan water pipeline. The second project, slated to begin this spring, is the mile-long 31st Street Bike Path. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/yahoo/chi-0410060406oct06,1,7674347.story?coll=chi-newsaol-headlines
